Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 01, 2021 (SKNIS): Nine thousand two hundred and forty-one doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in St. Kitts and Nevis at the close of the business day on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hazel Laws, shared the updated statistics with the nation on Wednesday during the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) COVID-19 Briefing.
“We have reached 27.9 percent of our target population,” Dr. Laws said, noting that this represents the number of persons who received the first dose.
Health officials are pushing to get 33,037 persons in St. Kitts and Nevis to take the jab which would represent 70 percent of the population needed for herd immunity.
The federation rolled out its vaccination campaign on February 22, 2021, some five weeks ago.
“We are doing quite well,” CMO Laws added, citing comparative statistics from other countries.
There have been a total of 44 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in St. Kitts and Nevis, with 43 recoveries and zero deaths. One person remains in isolation.
