COVAX vaccines to arrive on Tuesday

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AFTER missing an expected March shipment timeframe for the first tranche of AstraZeneca Vaccine, the COVAX doses are expected to arrive in the Federation on Tuesday (Apr. 6).

     

    According to media reports, the shipment will arrive through Barbados which is expected to receive 33, 600 doses in the first instance from COVAX.

     

    Barbados Today reported that Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and St. Kitts and Nevis are expected to receive shipments on Tuesday.

     

    A schedule received by SKNVibes News shows that the doses are expected to arrive around 10:30 p.m., with Bermuda and the Dominican Republic also expecting to receive doses on the same day.

     

    According to that schedule, the Federation is expected to receive 21,600, with St. Vincent and the Grenadines -24,000, Bermuda - 9,600, Dominica -28,800, the Dominican Republic -91,200, and Barbados 33,600.

     

    No official word has yet been made by local health officials. 

     

    However, it has been noted by local health officials that under the COVAX facility, St. Kitts and Nevis is expected to receive three tranches of 7.200 doses.
