NRP Leader: Death far outweighs risks in taking AstraZeneca Vaccine

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) is calling for a “comprehensive education and outreach programme” in order to get full participation in the vaccination rollout.

In a statement, the leader of the party, Dr. Janice Daniel-Hodge, said that would be essential to facilitate voluntary participation in the COVID-19 vaccination programme in St. Kitts and Nevis.

She acknowledged that there are many uncertainties and concerns surrounding the AstraZeneca Vaccine, such as its effectiveness to stop transmission, the risk of blood clots, the low number of black participants in vaccine trials, potential side effects and long-term effects of taking it.

Highlighting the concerns raised in several European countries and noting that they have stopped vaccinating persons over 60 years of age, and while in the UK it is restricted for persons under 30 years of age, Hodge said there are many reports that show the benefits of preventing hospitalisation and severe illnesses, and that death far outweighs the risks associated with the AstraZeneca Vaccine.

“NRP supports and encourages voluntary participation in the COVID-19 vaccination programme, not mandatory measures,” added Dr. Daniel-Hodge.
