NEMA calls for donation of supplies for SVG

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS the volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadines still erupting, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in St. Kitts is calling on citizens and residents of the Federation to assistance to assist those in need in the sister CARICOM member state.
     
    NEMA said it is actively engaged in the process of coordinating the shipment of urgently needed supplies to the Government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the moment of crisis brought about by the volcanic eruption in the north of St. Vincent.
     
    According to the local emergency management agency, Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris in yesterday’s (Apr. 11) broadcast, which was not seen by the private media, outlined the nation’s contribution to the emergency situation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
     
    The body reminded that “NEMA is the official state agency through which all national donations should be channeled for onward shipment to St. Vincent. This means that persons interested in making donations should deliver the items to NEMA’s headquarters at Lime Kiln, Basseterre. On Nevis, such donations would be received by the Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD)”.
     
    NEMA has outlined that priority items such as Drinking Water: preferably in the following national brands: Island Purified, Rainforest, Nelson Spring and Nevis Spring Water, Respirator Masks with Filters; Non-perishable, Dry Food Items; Bleach; Disinfectant; Liquid Soap;  and Personal Hygiene Kits.
