April 23rd, 2021 -- Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris this afternoon (Friday, April 23) joined Colleague Heads of the Caribbean in a roundtable discussion on Accelerating Economic Recovery and Sustainable Markets. The roundtable was presided over by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, and remarks came from H.E. The President of Rwanda while the Rt. Hon. Alok Sharma, M.P. and COP President-designate, gave welcoming remarks.
Presentations were made by Prime Minister Harris on the sub theme – Opportunities for Joint Action in the lead up to COP21.
Prime Minister Harris was supported on this topic by Prime Minister Andrew Holness of Jamaica.
Prime Minister Harris used the opportunity to extend condolences to His Royal Highness on the passing of his father and commended His Royal Highness for taking time out of his busy schedule at a time of mourning to preside over the roundtable. Dr Harris said, “This is a sign of your commitment to issues of climate change.”
Other topics addressed were ‘seizing a green recovery’ and ‘accelerating a sustainable transition across the decade’.
Private sector representatives brought perspectives from industry and investment.
