    B.V.I. Wednesday, October 7 – His Excellency the Governor after consultation with the Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Mrs. Eunice Crawford to the post of Court Manager, Magistrate’s Court.
     
    Mrs. Crawford, who took up her appointment in May 2009, has a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from the University of the West Indies.
     
    The new court manager first joined the public service in 1979 as a Clerical Trainee in the Medical and Health Department.  She also served as Medical Records Assistant Officer from 1981-1983.  Mrs. Crawford resigned from the public service in 1983 and was employed in the private sector from 1983-1990.
     
    Mrs. Crawford returned to the public service in 1991 and was appointed to the post of Administrative Officer, Training Division.  She also served as Administrative Officer, Magistrate’s Office from 1994-1999; Senior Administrative Officer, Ministry of Education and Culture from 1999-2006 and Senior Administrative Officer, Magistrate’s Court from 2006-2009 when she was promoted to the post of Court Manager.
     
    The court manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Magistrate’s Office; supervising the administrative functions to support the activities of the court; liaising with the judiciary, magistracy and external organisations that interface with the court administering cases, including setting dates for hearings, issuing notices, corresponding with attorneys and litigants and ensuring case files are maintained; and providing technical advice or support and resource information to the Senior Magistrate and Permanent Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office.
