Police pull plug on events, spectator-less sports reintroduced

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WITH the Federation recording its 46th case of the Coronavirus, police have been forced to pull the plug on all scheduled parties and fetes as deep contact tracing has begun.

The latest case, which has no travel history, is a hotel worker who has been placed in isolation as a team from the Ministry of Health fans out to minimise the fallout.

In that regard, the Police Force said it is now withdrawing permissions that were granted for fetes and crowded events.

Additionally, Superintendent Cromwell Henry announced that they are moving to reimplement spectator-less events.

This means that football and other sports would now have to return to the maximum of 150 people at the various venues, which includes teams, venue officials and the media.

“We further advise that all persons adhere to all non-pharmaceutical measures as stipulated in the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Act,” urged Henry.

The Federation has not had any community spread of the virus due to strict measures implemented by the Task Force.

Henry urged persons who use public transportation to be most mindful as they are more vulnerable to contracting the virus due to the close setting of the seats.
