Connected to #49
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE fallout from the recently confirmed localised case of COVID-19 continues as the Federation this morning (May 23) recorded two more local cases.
A media statement from the Ministry of Health informed that the two cases, 51 and 52, are both locals with no travel history.
The Ministry said confirmation of the two additional cases was as a result of the ongoing contact tracing exercise regarding case #46.
“Case #51 and case #52 are nationals and both have had close contact with case #49. The individuals are in isolation at a COVID-19 certified facility,” the Ministry said.
Health officials are working around the clock to minimise the spread of the virus after two hotel workers, cases #46 and #48, tested positive after coming into contact with case #47.
It was just recently that Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hazel Laws conceded that there is likely going to be a cluster of cases resulting from the spread.
This latest case brings the number of active cases to seven, with an overall number of 52.
Data from the Ministry of Health shows that 38 cases have been reported on St. Kitts and a further 14 on Nevis.
