By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IN less than 24 hours, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Hazel Laws has confirmed that there is a second case of the Coronavirus in the Federation, more specifically on St. Kitts.

While responding to a reporter’s question, Dr. Laws announced one additional case of the virus which was discovered over the last 24 hours.

This latest case has taken the number of confirmed cases to 75 with 27 said to be active.

Since the discovery of the first local case for 2021 (# 46), health officials are expecting cluster cases to pop up around the Federation.

Currently, all of the new localised cases of the virus were pinpointed in St. Kitts, and many were linked to case #46.

Deep contact tracing efforts continue in order to prevent a further outbreak in the Federation.

To date, 61 cases have been discovered on St. Kitts and 14 on Nevis, but no death has been recorded.

Health officials are continuing to urge the populace to follow the necessary guidelines and protocols, including social distancing, use hand sanitisers and to wear face masks in order to minimise their chances of contracting the virus.
