Vernon Battice, a resident of Ponds Pasture, was ordered to pay a $1 000 fine within two months for the October 1, 2009 offence of “permitting another person to drive his vehicle without insurance”. Battice would face a one-month prison term should he fail to pay the sum within the prescribed period.

Frigate Bay resident Saad Syed was fined a total of $1 000 for committing the offences of “driving a motor car without a driver’s licence” and “driving when not covered by insurance”.  The sum is to be paid within two months or, in default, he would be sentenced to serve on month imprisonment on each count.

For the offences of “driving without due care and attention” and “driving under the influence of alcohol”, Mattingley Heights resident Vernon Fredrick was convicted and fined $500 and $1 000 respectively. The offences were committed on July 4, 2009 and, according to a police press release, the sums are to be paid within one month or, in default, serve three months at Her Majesty’s Prison.

Andrea Lakhtar of Frigate Bay was convicted of “permitting another person to use a motor vehicle without insurance” and was fined $300 to be paid within two weeks or serve one week at Her Majesty’s Prison.

A $300 fine was imposed on Kathleen Zann of Sea View Gardens as punishment for committing the September 28, 2009 offence of “driving without due care and attention”. She faces a one-week prison term should she fail to pay the sum ordered by the court.
