Four arrested for drugs during police operation

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – OVER the past weekend, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force continued to demonstrate its commitment to law and order by conducting a number of operations across the island.
     
    A communiqué issued by the police force’s Press and Public Relations Office, explains that on Saturday, October 10, operations took place in the St. Peters, Frigate Bay, Sandy Point, Old Road areas and in those villages located between Lodge and St. Pauls.
     
    It explains that more than 180 individuals and vehicles were stopped and searched for “illegal drugs, arms and ammunition.”
     
    While it doesn’t speak to any arms and ammunition being found, the press release indicates that as number of traffic tickets were issued and persons arrested for offences including drug-possession.
     
    “Forty-six traffic tickets were issued for lighting and other traffic offences, six drivers with vehicles with heavily tinted windows and windscreens were made to remove the tint. Four persons, Anthony Henry of Cardin Ave, Darrel Jordon of Conaree, Laughton Foreman of College Housing and Xavian Whyte of Molyneux, Alphonso Collins of St. Peters were arrested and charged for possession of marijuana.”
     
    Frigate Bay resident Joel Bartlette was also arrested and has been charged with “battery on police” and “obstruction”. Terrence Williams of Boyds was arrested during one of the operations and charged with one count each of “obstruction” and “refusing to give his name to the police”.
     
    These persons are expected to make an appearance before the court shortly.
