BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE human remains, which were dscovered in the Needsmust area on Friday, April 23, 2021, have been identified as as Jabal Henry of Upper Cayon.
According to a police communiqué, based on evidence taken from the place of discovery, officers had narrowed their investigations to focus on a person of interest.
Police stated that DNA samples from the remains and a close relative of Henry were sent abroad for testing, and the results, which were recently receied, had proven to be a match.
The then 39-year-old Henry, who was reported missing, was last seen on the night of Friday, January 31, 2020 walking along the Kim Collins Highway wearing a black shirt and a pair of long black pants.
However, in April of this year, another police communiquéat had stated that about 11:00 a.m. on Friday (Apr. 23), while on a patrol in the Needsmust area, a member of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force found bones which appeared to be that of a human being.
The police were informed and officers had visited the scene along with personnel from the Forensic Department, who collected the the remains and pieces of clothing that were also found in the area.
The Forensic Department, it added, had undertaken the process of trying to ascertain the identity of the remains.
While investigations into Henry’s death are ongoing, the police are urging persons with information regarding this matter to contact the Violent Crimes Unit by dialling 467-1887, 467-1888, 662-3468, the nearest police station or the Crime Hotline at 707, where information could be given anonymously.
