BASSETERRE ST. KITTS (October 14, 2009) -- Some twenty four students attending the four primary schools in the Electoral District of St Christopher #7 stand to benefit from Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Primary School Awards to assist them in their pursuit for excellence this academic year.
According to the area parliamentary representative, Dr Timothy Harris, who is also the Minister of Finance, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the ceremony will be held at the Molyneux Primary School on Tuesday October 27, 2009.
This is the 6th Annual Awards event and the schools are the Edgar T. Morris Primary School (Tabernacle), Molyneux Primary School, Estridge Primary School (Mansion) and the Violet Petty Primary School (Lodge).
So far over one hundred and twenty students have benefitted from the Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Constituency Awards. The beneficiaries for consideration of awards are recommended by the individual schools.
Dr Harris stated that he is humbled by the opportunity to assist others to advance academically, and intimated that education is the best gift we can give our children.
He said “my own educational career was advanced through the kindness and generosity of others. Someone also looked out and stood up for me.
“I am happy that over the last six years we in the Constituency, assisted by the philanthropy of others, have stood up for at least one hundred and twenty primary school children. But we did more than support individual student beneficiaries, as we have also been supporting all students through our annual contribution to the schools.”
