St. Kitts & Nevis demonstrates sterling management of COVID-19; 81 percent of all new cases have recovered

    Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 16, 2021 (SKNIS): St. Kitts & Nevis has demonstrated remarkable management of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the community outbreak on May 19, 2021, with the Lambda variant of SARS-CoV-2, which has seen 499 cases shy of two months, the country's expert all-of-society approach in containing the virus has resulted in 81 percent of cases recovered from the dreadful disease. In the first wave of the virus, the country's exceptional administration of the pandemic for 14 months only resulted in 45 confirmed cases.

     

    The Ministry of Health’s Situation Reports for the past four days have recorded a total of 14 new COVID-19 positive cases. On Monday 12th July, eight (8) were recorded; Tuesday 13th July, two (2); Wednesday, 14th July, four (4); and Thursday 15th July, zero (0).

     

    Since the country entered into community spread with its 46th positive case on May 19, 402 of 499 cases have recovered. The Ministry of Health’s robust contact tracing continues to identify new cases of COVID-19 and testing has been continuous.

     

    St. Kitts & Nevis COVID-19 Situation Report No. 476 as of Thursday, July 15, 2021, states that the total number of confirmed cases now stands at 544 with 94 active cases, and 447 recovered cases. 526 of those cases were recorded in St. Kitts while 18 were registered in Nevis. To date, there have been 22, 918 negative results.

     

    A nightly curfew remains in place from 9:00 pm of each day until 5 am of the following day, which started on Monday 12th July, 2021 at 9:01 pm and will end at 5:00 am on Monday 26th July, 2021 until new regulations are instituted.
