Mr Bob Hull Project Manager of the Pinneys Estate Development Agency |
CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (January 12, 2006) -- A top official of the Pinney's Estate Development Agency a division of the Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation, has described the response to the prime residential lands offered for sale by the Agency in November as overwhelming.
Mr Bob Hull Project Manager said on Thursday so far the Agency had approved 104 applications for residential lots in the Nugents Heights and Nugents Village areas
"We have 104 applications being approved and those files are in various stages of development. Thirty two of those 104 approvals have actually confirmed that we (the Agency) should go ahead and have their lots surveyed, which is the final cut of the survey. So we expect at least 32 clients to go forward with closing the sale," he said.
Regarding the lands offered for commercial development, Mr Hull said the response had been equally overwhelming.
"The commercial area is being brought to market later this month in a couple weeks we will actually start processing applications for that section during the week of January 23rd. The response has been just as good given the time frame. There are 45 lots there and we have 41 prospective clients listed and of course some clients are listed for more than one lot," he said.
The Project Manager described the responses received by the Agency so far had been of a mixed nature. "We have had response from Nevisians living here and overseas and we have also had response from non nationals but locals will get priority over foreigners," he said.
The Agency had been established in November 2004 and was charged with the management, development and marketing and sale of land at the Pinneys, Belmont and Clarke and Upper Jessups Estates.
According to Mr Hull, this year the Agency plans to begin preparing lands at Belmont, Clarke and Coconut Walk at Upper Jessups in the hope that they would be available for sale in 2007 adding that they had already alerted the engineering consultants to begin sub division plans.
Mr Hull noted that the Pinneys Estate which was acquired by the Nevis Island Administration consists of 980 acres. There is a total of 730 acres of land at Pinneys, 150 acres at Belmont and Clarke and an additional 100 at Coconut Walk at Upper Jessups.
