BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FURTHER inroads into the traffic death of Keith Brombill have been made with a charge being formally preferred against a third individual.

According to a police communiqué, Sandy Point resident Devon Williams – who also resides at St. Johnston Village - was “formally arrested and charged for causing death by dangerous driving”.

The incident which claimed the life of Brombill occurred on August 11, 2009 on the Island’s Main Road in Sandy Point and, according to previous reports carried by this media house, Brombill was struck by a motorcar bearing the registration number R173 reportedly driven by Jevon Allen of Old Road. Brombill was pronounced dead on the scene.

Allen and his co-occupants reportedly fled the scene in that vehicle in an attempt to avoid the authorities. He was eventually captured by the authorities while the other occupants evaded apprehension.

Allen was formally charged with “causing death by dangerous driving” on August 14, 2009 and five days later, (August 17), another individual, Mickhale Kelly, alias ‘Micbo’, was identically charged.

A search for Williams began then, with the authorities indicating through the media that they were seeking the apprehension of a third individual and were seeking the public’s assistance.

Police Press and Public Relations Officer attached Inspector Cromwell Henry explained that success in apprehending Williams was not realised until he was spotted on a passenger bus during a routine stop and search exercise conducted in the Sandy Point area. He was, according to Henry, removed from the vehicle and taken into police custody.

The three were released on bail and are expected to go through a preliminary inquiry process following which the presiding magistrate will decide on whether or not the evidence is sufficient to go before the High Court.
