When music industry stalwart Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell founded The Immortal Stone Love 37 years ago, many of the fans were not yet born. They will however, have a chance to celebrate the iconic sound at the Magnum Stone Love 37th Anniversary Party at Mas Camp on Saturday, December 12.
The Stone Love Crew, lead by the godfather of juggling, Wee Pow will present the perfect mixture of classic Stone Love dub plates and the hottest new tracks in the dancehall. Selectors ranging from Metro Media, ZJ Liquid, Crazy Chris, Kurt Riley and Jagga B of Afrique out of New York City will also join the crew on the stage for non-stop musical entertainment.
Adding excitement to the Anniversary celebrations, partner Magnum will provide special promotional prizes leading up to the night of the event. Magnum celebrates 10 Long 10 Strong years on the Jamaican beverage landscape with special events and a landmark riddim project from the Left Side production house which will feature tracks from various artistes including Magnum King of the Dancehall, Poor and Boasy.
Magnum's Brand Manager, Gary Dixon ensures both the Magnum and the Stone Love fans that, "At ten years old for Magnum this year, we are definitely going to be putting a lot more energy into it, a lot of what the brand core is about, we are gonna bring Mas Camp to life. We want everyone to come out and remember the Stone Love of yesteryear, the good vibes."
Special bar prices ensure that Magnum will be pouring all night long for the Stone Love faithful from across the city, the island and across the world.
"Fans can expect great things from Magnum that we can't let out of the bag right now but they will definitely excite the people." Gary animatedly stated, "We want everyone to come out and see Magnum and Stone Love at its full force. We are going to show why it is that Magnum supports Stone Love. Magnum will also be showcasing what it has in store for its 10th anniversary."
The calendar event attracts fans from as far east as Japan, as far north as Canada, from Europe in the west and from Argentina in the south.
"Anniversary always brings out the fans, all the people dem from back in the day!" says selector, Geefus, "House of Leo, Tropics and fans from Adams Lane, Torrington Bridge, dem a di people from long time."
Fans also include a wide range of prominent artistes that owe their success in part to Stone Love. Many will likely 'touch the mic' at the event to 'big up' Wee Pow, Rory, Geefus, Billy Slaughter, Diamond, Fyah Ras, Bill Cosby, Scarey Gary, Iceberg, D Pow and the newest member, Randy Rich.
The Magnum Stone Love 37th Anniversary Party takes place at Mas Camp on Saturday, December 12. Gates open at 9 PM.
