Kings brush aside Warriors in Match 13

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Lucia Kings kept alive their hope to emerge champions of this year’s CPL tournament when they gained a comprehensive 51-run victory against a lacklustre Guyana Amazon Warriors outfit yesterday morning (Sept. 2) at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.

Led by an all-round performance from Roston Chase, the Kings notched up their second win of the competition to move up the table.

Batting first on a wicket that offered much for bowlers, the Kings were able to post a competitive 149/7 off their allotted 20 overs with Chase top scoring with 85 while Mark Deyal chipped in with 20.

Odeon Smith and Romario Shepherd each bagged three wickets to restrict the St. Lcuia-based team.

In reply, the Warriors were placed on the backfoot and never got any partnership going despite a valiant 41 from their captain, Nicholas Pooran, and 31 from the clean striking Smith.

The Warriors and Kings are both on four points and will lock horns again on Wednesday (Sept. 8) in the evening game.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors are in fourth place while the St. Lucia Kings are in fifth on the points table.
