The area in which Devon Ryan was shot by the police
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Three men are currently nursing bullet wounds in the JNF General Hospital following separate shootings in Godwin’s Ghaut and The Village.

Reports reaching SKNVibes state that at about 12:00 p.m. today (Oct. 19), Alester Ford, also known as Red Ants of Godwyn’s Ghaut, was shot in the arm by an unknown assailant and was taken to the hospital.

This information was confirmed by Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Cromwell Henry, who stated that Ford was treated for his wound and is warded at the JNF Hospital.

However, while in Godwyn’s Ghaut, this media house spoke with a resident who, under the condition of anonymity, alleged that the individual who shot Ford is wanted by the police for “almost three months now”.

The resident further stated that the assailant is the same individual who is wanted for the shooting death of Dexter ‘Asbal’ Marsham in Godwyn’s Ghaut on Saturday, July 18, 2009.
Inspector Henry has however denied this allegation and declared that investigations are ongoing and the results would be made public.

The other shooting incidents occurred just after 2:00 p.m. today in The Village.

According to Henry, a police patrol was in the area when an officer heard the sound of gunshots. On investigation, two armed masked men were seen running in a southern direction along St. Johnston’s Avenue.

Further investigations revealed that they had shot Uttendale Whyte of Fort Thomas Road in St. Johnston’s Avenue. However, the officers gave chase and Devon Ryan of Blue Belle Alley was shot in the vicinity of the Infirmary Road and Millionaire Street while he was attempting to escape.

“The officers found one 9mm pistol with five matching rounds and a mask on his person, and he too was taken to the JNF Hospital. The other one however managed to escape,” Henry said.

Inspector Henry said that the police are appealing to any person with information relative to the two incidents to contact the nearest police station or the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at 465-2241 ext 230.
