Patriots suffer successive defeats by Kings

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -THE St. Kitts-Nevis Patriots suffered their second defeat in as many days when they were brushed aside by a resurging St. Lucia Kings.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, the Patriots’ top order never got out the blocks as they struggled with the slow nature of the pitch at Warner Park,  which offered  a lot to bowlers.

Wickets tumbled regularly but it was a strong effort by Fabian Allen (38) that propelled the home side to a well below par 118 all out inside their allotted 20 overs.

Allen struck several monstrous hits but could not propel the Patriots to a competitive total.

In reply, Roston Chase continued with his rich batting form to guide the Kings to their third consecutive victory by six wickets.

That was the second successive defeat for the Patriots in this year’s competition, and it by the same team.

They will now lock horns with the Jamaica Tallawahs on Wednesday (Sept. 8) from 10:00 a.m.. However, that game will be played behind closed doors.
