The Leeward Islands District Conference of the MCCA - the Methodist Church in
the Caribbean and the Americas - will be convened in St. Kitts over the next 2
weeks. This will be the 200th time in the history of the Conference that delegates will
assemble for discussion and decision making in relation to the ministry, pastoral
work and the Christian social witness of the Methodist Church in the sub-region.
The deliberations will be focused by the theme of this year's Conference, which is:
"Called To Live As Stewards Of All God's Gifts."
Over 120 clergy and lay delegates spreading from the United States Virgin Islands
in the north west to Aruba in the south and from Holland, will begin arriving here
on Saturday 14th January, 2006.
The Conference begins with a two-day ministerial retreat on Saturday and
Sunday, followed by the ministerial session on Monday and Tuesday. The
representative session, which includes the lay delegates, will commence on Thursday
19th January. Other highlights of the Conference include the welcome service on Wednesday 18th ,
a procession of witness and youth rally on Saturday 21st, an ordination service on
Sunday 22nd, men's and women's meetings on Tuesday 24th and the Conference
communion service on Thursday, 26th January.
The ministerial and representative sessions of the Conference will be held at the
Wesley Methodist Church in Basseterre daily, except for Wednesday, 25th January,
when the conference will meet in Sandy Point.
The 53 Clergy and 78 lay delegates will begin returning home on Friday, 27th
January.
