BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Lucia Kings have qualified for the second consecutive year to compete in the final of the Caribbean Premier League, after they took down the defending champions, Trinbago Knight Riders, by 21 runs at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium today (Sept. 14).

St. Lucia Kings opted to bat after winning the toss and lost Cornwall for a duck with only one run on the board.

The damage was however repaired with Mark Deyal and Fletcher at the crease. By the end of the Powerplay, they took the score to  73 for one with Deyal being responsible for 60 of them.

He had punished the bowlers by dispatching the ball to all parts of the ground during his superb knock of 78 off 44, which included five fours and six sixes.

Deyal was ably supported by Roston Chase (36), David Wiese (34) and Tim David (38) in the Kings total of 205 for four.

In reply, the Knight Riders could not have capitalise on their brisk start and folded for 184 inside the 20th over.

Wiese bagged 5 for 39 off his allotted four overs and, with his excellent knock of 34, was capped MVP.

The St. Lucia Kings now await the outcome of the second semi-final between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and St. Kitts-Nevis Patriots to compete in tomorrow’s final.
