COVID-19: Another school goes virtual

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AS health authorities in the Federation continue to grapple with the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, so too is the education sector as more institutions have been forced to revert to virtual learning.

The latest is the Immaculate Conception Cathelic School, which informed parents and guardians that as of Monday (Sept. 20) all classes were moved to be done remotely following recent “COVID-19-related issues”.

Charles E. Mills Secondary School, Gingerland Secondary School, St. Paul’s Primary School and Washington Archibald High School are some of the educational institutions that reverted to remote learning due to the presence of COVID-19 or persons being deemed contacts of positive cases. (ICCS)

In a statement to parents, board members said the move gave ICCS’ administration an opportunity to sanitise all of the learning spaces and review the health and safety protocols for face-to-face instructions.

The institution noted that students would be instructed via a hybrid model that incorporates live sessions and posting of materials and activities.

Three Grades, Two, Seven and Ten, were flagged, and students were either tested or parents were asked to get them tested.

Parents whose children were part of those highlighted Grades were asked to present the results to the school as they make preparation for the resumption of classes.
