19th September 2021 -- The Government of India in consultation with the Government of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis decided to nominate Mr. Ramesh Mulkanoor as Honorary Consul of India in St. Kitts and Nevis. In a brief ceremony held on 17th September 2021 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Aviation of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, H.E. Dr. K.J. Srinivasa, High Commissioner of India to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis handed over the Letter of Appointment from H.E. President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, appointing Mr. Ramesh Mulkanoor as Honorary Consul of India in St. Kitts and Nevis to The Hon. Mark A.G. Brantley, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Aviation of Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. The High Commissioner also officially introduced Mr. Mulkanoor to Hon. Mark Brentley. Mr. Mulkanoor will henceforth officially represent the High Commission of India, Georgetown, Guyana in St. Kitts and Nevis. Mr. Mulkanoor will have full power and authority by all lawfull means to aid and protect Indian merchants and other Indian citizens, who may trade with or visit or reside in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. Mr. Mulkanoor is a leading businessman of Indian origin in St. Kitts and Nevis. All Indian nationals can contact him for assistance.
During his ongoing visit to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis from 10th September 2021 onwards, H.E. Dr. K.J. Srinivasa, High Commissioner of India also met and interacted with Dr. The Hon.Timothy Harris, Prime Minister, The Hon. Shawn Richards, Deputy Prime Minister, The Hon. Mark A. G Brantley, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Aviation, The Hon. Akilah Byron-Nisbett, Minister of Health, ICT, Entertainment, Entrepreneurship and Talent Development and several senior functionaries of the Government of Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. High Commissioner Srinivasa discussed with them various matters of collaboration with India for the benefit and partnership for the people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. These include proposals for the USD 10 million Line of Credit offered by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, for solar energy projects, continued collaboration for further disbursal of USD 700,000 for the quick impact community development projects including construction of the St. Peters Health Centre, maximum utilization of the training slots provided under Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) scholarship programme, proposal for deputation of a fisheries expert under CARICOM, possibilities of sending experts for T & D of the power sector, training St. Kitts and Nevis professionals, and potential collaboration in Agro processing, IT, etc. The High Commissioner expressed happiness on the winning of the CPL 2021 by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, especially also since the team is owned by an Indian origin business group.
In a reception held on 17 September, Dr. The Hon.Timothy Harris, Prime Minister expressed happiness at the appointment of India’s Honorary consul and the various offers of assistance by India to St Kitts & Nevis and hoped that this would usher in further strengthening of the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
