    Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 25, 2021 (NEMA): The UWI Seismic Research Center has confirmed reports of an earthquake felt by some residents here in St. Kitts and Nevis and neighboring islands. 

     

    Residents in St. Kitts reported feeling the first quake on Friday 24th September, 2021 at 8:40p.m. in the Stapleton/Monkey Hill and Basseterre areas.

     

    Meanwhile the UWI Seismic Research Center recorded another quake. It was a 5.3 magnitude earthquake on the same day at around 11:12pm (local time) or 03:12 (UTC). The quake was located at Latitude: 16.86North, Longitude: 61.14West with a depth of 10km.

     

    The earthquake was reported to have been felt at the following locations 81km NE of Point-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe, 83km SE of Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda and 175km North of Roseau, Dominica.
