    Confirmed cases surpass 2,000

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE number of people dying from COVID-19-related ailments continues to increase, and so too is the number of confirmed cases which has now surpassed the 2,000 mark.

In data presented as of Saturday (Oct. 2), the Ministry of Health had reported 15 fatalities and 35 new confirmed cases. This comes as the number of active cases of the virus now stands at 1,002, with 1,012 deemed to have recovered.

The overall number of confirmed cases stood at 2,029 as St. Kitts reported the larger percentage of 1,670 and Nevis 359.

As the number of cases continue to climb, health officials are of the view that it is due to complacency between both vaccinated and the unvaccinated individuals.

Health officials and members of the Police Force continue to plead with citizens and residents to continue to follow the necessary guidelines and protocols, as many of them are still flounting the laws.

In many cases there are still relatively large crowds and individuals found not wearing facemasks while out in public.
