Motorcyclist dies in traffic accident

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - POLICE in Basseterre are investigating a traffic accident that occurred on Wellington Road on Tuesday morning (Oct. 12), which resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

     

    The victim’s name was given as 35-year-old Juaan Fyfield of Liverpool Row.

     

    According to a police report, the accident had involved a government-owned motor pickup (G344) that is attached to the Public Works Departmend and a motorcycle.

     

    At the time of the accident, the motor pickup was being driven by Davin Charles of Main Street, Christ Church and the motorcycle was being ridden by Fyfield.

     

    Preliminary investigations revealed that just after 10:00 a.m. on the day in question, both vehicles were travelling from the direction of the RLB International Airport towards Basseterre along Wellington Road.

     

    However, while in the vicinity of the Public Works Gas Station, Charles indicated to take a right turn and, in the process, Fyfield’s motorcycle collided with the rear, left side, of the motor pickup and fell on the road.

     

    A unit from the Emergency Medical Services had transported him to the JNF General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

     

    Police also stated that an autopsy would be performed on his body to determine the exact cause of death.

     

    This traffic accident has taken the number of fatalities for this year to four.
