Male succumbs following Kittstodart blaze

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- THE male who was the second victim of the October 21st blaze in Kittstodart succumbed to his injuries yesterday (Oct. 5).

     

    Police reported that the man, 23-year-old Kevaune Rodriquez, died yesterday morning from the injuries he sustained as a result of the fire. Reports from the incident indicated that the man sustained severe burns to his body from the fire.

     

    On Thursday, October 21, 2021, Police said that they received a report of a house fire at Kittstodarts. Upon arrival at the scene, officers met members of the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services extinguishing the fire.  

     

    In the residence at the time were 21-year-old Annica Carey and Rodriquez. Police said that Carey was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Doctor.  

     

    An autopsy was scheduled to determine her exact cause of death.  

     

    Carey was recently laid to rest and Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris in an updated post to his official social media account said, “We are all saddened by the death of Annica at the tender age of 21. Today her large family and loved ones turned out to pay their last respects to her. I grieve with the family”. 

     

    Police in updating the media said that they have not concluded their investigations into the matter.
