West Indies Women take comfortable victory and 1-0 series lead against Pakistan Women

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes

KARACHI, Pakistan- The West Indies Women secured a convincing 45-run victory over Pakistan Women in the first Cool & Cool One Day International at the National Stadium, Karachi. After posting 253/8 from their 50 overs, to which Pakistan Women finished their 50 overs on 208/9.

Deandra Dottin struck a blistering century to ensure the visitors crossed the 200-run total. She eventually fell for 132 off 146 deliveries, which included 18 fours and 2 sixes.

Dottin told CWI Media after collecting her Player of the Match award "My plan was to occupy the crease long, watch the bowlers and see how the pitch was playing and just go from there. Going through my mind was that I had to bat through the 50 overs or at least 40-45 overs in order for us to have a good total on the board, after the two quick wickets fell... to be honest, when I got to the half-century it was just to start fresh again (to get to the century) and get a high total for the team".

The two teams will return to the same venue on Thursday for the second ODI. First ball is 10am local time (1am Eastern Caribbean time, 12 midnight Jamaica time).
