BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AMERICAN rapper Lil Wayne, who said any song he ‘spits’ on is a hit, will be spending one year in prison after he pleaded guilty to a weapon possession charge in New York yesterday morning (Oct. 22).
According to Jahkno.com, the gun was found on his tour bus in Manhattan back in 2007. The media house added that Wayne had previously pleaded not guilty to illegal gun possession charges that carried at least three and a half years in prison upon conviction.
The ‘Lollipop’ Grammy Award winning rapper is also scheduled for a trial in Arizona on felony, drug possession and weapons charges. He has pleaded not guilty in that case and is awaiting his February 2010 sentencing.
Lil Wayne has had a very successful year. He won a number of awards and has a number of big hits and collaborations. This untimely incident comes at a time when the rapper was hoping to release his next album titled ‘Rebirth’, which has had months of delays.
