Kittitian under consideration for elections job in Guyana

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- KITTITIAN Eugene Petty is said to be one of a number of candidates who were nominated to fill the position of Chief Election Officer (CEO) at the Guyana Elections Commission.

This comes as the former Supervisor of Elections and veteran election observer was nominated by the three members of the opposition coalition members on the Commission for the post.

The post of CEO has been embroiled in controversy following the 2020 General and Regional Elections after it took several months to certify the final results by the incumbent, including court battles that are likely to continue well into 2022.

The government commission members have nominated 20 persons, including several controversial figures who are unlikely to receive a nod of approval.

Former Chief Elections Officer (CEO) Keith Lowefield is currently facing several charges through his reported involvement in the failure to certify the results in a timely manner.

He is currently facing at least six charges in connection with that scandal, including failure to perform his duties without lawful excuse or justification and wilful misconduct.
