One more COVID death reported in Nevis

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts --  THE Federation yesterday reported another COVID-related death, even as the number of new cases remains very low.

     

    This latest death was confirmed by Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hazel Laws while she addressed last evening’s NEOC media brief, where it was disclosed that the individual was unvaccinated.

     

    The latest death brings the overall count for the Federation to 28. A look at the numbers showed that 23 were reported on St. Kitts and five on Nevis.

     

    Of that overall figure, Dr. Laws revealed the four persons were vaccinated and 24 were unvaccinated. Additionally, one death was recorded between the 20-29 age group; one between 30-39; seven between 40-59;  and19 in the bracket of 60 and above.

     

    CMO Laws disclosed that there were 26 new cases confirmed for the past week with one person being hospitalized. In addition, there were two persons discharged from the hospital and 62 recoveries over the same period.

     

    A look at the data showed that there were 2,756 confirmed cases recorded on the island with 2,304 reported on St. Kitts and 452 on Nevis. 

     

    Currently, there are 58 active cases in the Federation with 53 on St. Kitts and five on Nevis.

     

    According to the Ministry of Health, 2,670 people have recovered with 442 on Nevis and 2,228 on Nevis.

     

    Health officials are again pleading with residents to get vaccinated as the percentage of first doses administered remains just under 80.
