One in custody for shooting incident

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts --FOLLOWING a shooting incident that occurred in the wee hours of today (Nov. 19) Police have made a swift arrest in the incident  which left a sexagenarian injured. 

     

    The man, 61-year-old Clyde Clarke of Challengers was shot and injured, while he was in his home.

     

    Police said that shortly after midnight, Clarke was in his outside kitchen when a lone gunman entered the premises and shot at him. He sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was transported to the JNF General Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is warded in a stable condition.

     

    In a statement this evening, police said an individual was taken into Police custody in relation to a shooting. They indicated that based on information received shortly after the incident occurred and were able to identify and locate an individual who might be able to assist with the investigation.

     

    Persons with information regarding this matter are urged to contact the Violent Crime Unit by dialing 467-1887, 467-1888, 662-3468, their nearest Police Station or the Crime Hotline at 707 where information can be given anonymously. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
