By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - CRICKET WEST INDIES (CWI) has confirmed that captain of the men’s senior team Keiron Pollard would miss the Pakistan series due to an injury that has been troubling him over several weeks.

The white ball captain is said to be struggling with a hamstring injury he sustained in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and would not recover in time for the tour, which begins later this month in Karachi.

In order to amend the situation, CWI Selection Panel has named Devon Thomas as his replacement in the One-Day International (ODI) squad ando allrounder Rovman Powell replacement him in the T20 International (T20I) squad.

According to CWI, Pollard would undergo rehabilitation work in Trinidad under the supervision of the organisation’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Israel Dowlat, and will be reassessed in a few weeks ahead of the upcoming home tours against Ireland and England in January 2022.

In Pollard’s absence, Nicholas Pooran will lead the team in the T20Is, while Shai Hope, for the first, will captain the team in the ODIs.

The West Indies are due to play three T20Is and three ODIs at the Karachi National Stadium from December 13 to 22.

The start times for the matches are: T20Is at 6:00 p.m. local time (9:00 a.m, Eastern Caribbean 8:00 a.m. Jamaica) and the ODIs at 1:00 p.m. local time (4:00 a.m. Eastern Caribbean/3:00 a.m. Jamaica).
