BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - MINISTER OF TOURISM Lindsay Grant has confirmed that the Chief Executive Officer at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Racquel Brown, has tendered her resignation with effect from the end of this month, December 31, 2021.

Confirmation was made by the Minister when he addressed reporters during his speech in recognition of the arrival of four cruise vessels today (Dec. 7) at Port Zante.

Reports on various social media entities indicated that both the CEO of the Nevis Tourism Authority and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority had tendered their resignations at the same time.

In his response to queries on the matter, Minister Grant cited personal reasons for Brown tendering her resignation.

Grant went to explain that contrary to media reports, he and Brown have had a very good relationship.

“She is leaving not under any duress as it seemed to be indicated out there. She has personal reasons which she has to attend to in her native land,” noted Grant.

The CEO has occupied that position for eight years and has served under two administrations. Her resignation comes at the most inopportune time as tourism officials seek to work in havng more cruise vessels return to the Federation.

The Minister is of the view that Brown had trained her team members well and they would be able to quickly fill the gap she would leave within the Authority.

It was bandied that head hunters are currently out seeking the best candidate to fill the position.

WINN FM quoted SKTA Chair, Nicholas Menon as expressing his confidence that “we are comfortable and confident we have a local successor”.
