BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TWO individuals are currently in police custody following a joint operation that that led to the discovery of close to 12 kilograms of compressed cannabis.
A police release stated that a joint operation was conducted on Wednesday (Jan. 12) by ranks of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and St. Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department, which led to the discovery of the illegal drug concealed within a barrel.
Two individuals have since been charged and remain in police custody concerning the find.
The police have charged Jahnald Audain of Pine Garden, Shadwell, and Sharline Halliday of Walwyn Street, Basseterre, for the offences of Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply.
Both of them were also charged by the Customs and Excise Department for Making a False Declaration, Importation of Cannabis, Concealment of Cannabis and Attempting to Fraudulently Evade Customs.
They were charged on Friday (Jan. 14) and remain in police custody.
