BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FOLLOWING up on an article published by this media house, in which it stated that a female was reportedly shot to the mouth, police have provided more details on the incident.
Police have stated that she was shot in her face and to the mouth.
In a release late yesterday (Jan. 19), police stated that close to 8:00 p.m. on the previous day, officers responded to a report of a non-fatal shooting incident.
Preliminary inquiries revealed 41-year-old Devon Powell had shot 23-year-old Tamique Decosta with his licenced firearm at his home in Newton Ground.
The release also stated that Powell had transported the wounded woman to the Pogson Medical Centre and she was later transferred to the JNG General Hospital, where she is warded in stable condition.
Personnel from the Forensic Department had processed the scene and collected items of evidential value.
Powell is currently in custody assisting the police with their investigation into the matter.
