Fourth COVID death reported in 48 hours

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ANOTHER family is in mourning today (Jan. 25) following the yesterday’s report of three COVID-related death in the Federation.

     

    That has taken to four the number of COVID-19 deaths within the last 48 hours as the fourth wave of the COVID, which is connected to the outbreak of the Omicron Variant 

     

    In its bulletin yesterday, the Ministry of Health reported 32 deaths from COVID-19 with a further 33 newly-diagnosed cases confirmed. 

     

    According to the reports, the latest case was confirmed on St. Kitts, and in the other three deaths one has been reported on Nevis while the remainder were on St. Kitts.

     

    It is not yet known if any of those who succumbed to the virus were fully vaccinated or unvaccinated. 

     

    Health officials have been calling on those who have yet to take one dose of either vaccines to get vaccinated, as it is one of the best means of protection against the virus which has seen spikes and busts over the last several weeks.

     

    Since the start of the pandemic, St. Kitts and Nevis has recorded 5,303 confirmed cases of the virus, with St. Kitts 4.515 and Nevis 788, along with 32 deaths.

     

    Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health reported that there are currently 602 active cases of the virus with two of them being imported within the last 14 days.
