COVID death count inching higher

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - DESPITE the spirited efforts by health officials to ensure the number of COVID cases remain low in the Federation, positive cases continue to increase and so too is the death count.

As of last evening (Jan. 25), the number of confirmed positive cases of the virus increased by 28 to 5,331 even though the Federation appeared to have passed the peak of the fourth wave of the virus that is being blamed for this round of cases.

The Federation has reported the presence of the Omicron Variant of COVID-19 and more than 1,500 active cases at any point. The latest death brought to five over the last four days, taringing the overall number to 33.

Currently, there are 553 active cases of the virus and those people are in isolation.

Despite that though, the number of people fully vaccinated is well above 70 percent while the first doses administered is over 80 percent.
