BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE nine-time Grammy Award winning artiste, Alicia Keys, announced recently that there would be a delay in the release of her fourth studio album.

The album, ‘The Element of Freedom’, was scheduled to drop on World AIDS Day (Dec.1) but, according to Eurweb.com, the singer said on October 25 that the release date has been delayed until December 15.

The website said that Keys used her Twitter page to break the news following a lecture and performance of her latest single ‘Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart’ for New York University students.

The set's first single, ‘Doesn't Mean Anything’, is currently number 15 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Keys recently performed ‘Empire State of Mind’ along with another successful recording artiste, Jay-Z, from his ‘The Blueprint 3’ album yesterday (Oct. 28), on the field at Yankee Stadium prior to Game One of the 2009 World Series.

According to Keys’ biography posted on her website, since the 2001 debut of ‘Songs In A Minor’, the New York native has built an unparalleled repertoire of hits and accomplishments with over 20 million albums sold worldwide.

The album which spawned her signature hit, ‘Fallin’, sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and garnered five Grammy Awards including Best New Artiste and Best R&B Album.

Her follow-up disc, 2004’s ‘The Diary of Alicia Keys’, which is currently seven times platinum, captured four Grammy Awards and featured ‘If I Ain’t Got You’, ‘You Don’t Know My Name’, and ‘Karma’.

With the 2005 release of Unplugged, which has sold 2 million copies, Keys became the first female R&B artiste to have three consecutive number one debuts on the Billboard 200 album chart in as many releases, as stated in her biography.
