Federation records one more COVID-19 fatality

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AS the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 remains low, the death count from the ailment however continues to increase as another person has succumbed.

     

    This was confirmed in the latest COVID-19 Situation Report from the Ministry of Health which showed that there was an additional death - moving the number from 37 to 38.

     

    That death was recorded on St. Kitts which has reported the majority of the victims of the ailment, with 32 of the 38 occurring on the larger of the two islands and the remainder on Nevis.

     

    One glimmer of hope is that the latest confirmed cases stands at one within a 24-hour time span, highlighting that the virus is under control in the Federation.

     

    Meanwhile, the number of active cases fell to 191, as the total number of confirmed cases stands at 5,476; with 4,647 in St.Kitts and 829 in Nevis.

     

    The Ministry of Health noted that 5,247 cases have recovered. 

     

    It has not yet been declared whether this latest death was a fully vaccinated person, as the number of persons deemed to have been fully inoculated slowly trickled to the 80 percent mark. 

     

    Currently 82.7 percent of the target population has received their first dose while. 76.8 percent are fully vaccinated.

     

    When it comes to a third dose, the Ministry revealed that 8.7 percent have received same. Meanwhile, the figures for children showed that 18 percent has received at least the first dose.
