BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN alleged family dispute has led to a man being hospitalised nursing wounds and another assisting the authorities with their investigations into the matter.

Unconfirmed reports reaching this media house suggested that sometime after 7:00 on Tuesday (Oct. 27) evening, an altercation erupted between members of a Middle Island family which prompted someone to make contact with police in the area.

Further reports suggest that because of the “altercation”, one of the family members went to a neighbour’s residence - from which he took a sharp object. He reportedly returned to the scene and proceeded to wound his relative.

Head of the Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Office Inspector Vaughan Henderson confirmed that an incident did occur but offered very little details.

He explained that at about 7:30 p.m., an anonymous individual placed a call to the Old Road Police Station indicating that there was “a fight” at Middle Island. As a result of inquiries made by the police, it was found that Nelton Charles of Middle Island was taken to the Pogson Hospital where he was treated.

Inspector Henderson said he could not indicate whether or not the wounded man was released from the hospital and declined to state the mature of his wound(s) and the severity.

He said investigations are ongoing and one suspect is currently in police custody.
