Medical and relief supplies were handed over to the government of St. Kitts and Nevis

    NEMA, 10th February, 2022 -- The National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) hosted a brief handover ceremony between the governments of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan) on Wednesday 9th February, 2022. His Excellency Michael Lin, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) presented a box of face shield to Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis as a symbolic gesture of the two forty foot containers of medical and relief supplies.

     

    Over three hundred and fifty five thousand U.S. ($355, 000.) of non-pharmaceutical and post emergency supplies were handed over to the government of St. Kitts and Nevis.

     

    His Excellency Michael Lin, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) stated during his presentation that “his embassy is happy to support the donation and it not only represent the full support from the Taiwanese people to the COVID19 pandemic response and the hurricane disaster management in St. Kitts and Nevis, but it also demonstrates the staunch partnership between our two countries”.

     

    The generous donation was made by Ms. Tina Bow, President of the Simply Help Foundation based out of Los Angeles, California.

     

    Chair of the National COVID-19 Taskforce, Mr. Abdias Samuel, stated that as a small island developing state “only through fostering these regional and international relationships we will be resilient against the impact of any particular disaster”.

     

    Mrs. Oslyn Ward Harris, Director of Social Services along with her staff of the Department of Social Services will lead in the distribution process.
