Crab Hill fatal shooting victim identified

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - POLICE have provided the identity and more details of the man who was shot and killed last night (Feb. 26) in Crab Hill, Sandy Point.

     

    In a press release, police gave the victim’s name as 36-year-old Deshaun Leader, who resided in Sandy Point but who was originally from St. Paul’s.

     

    The release stated that police received a report sometime after 8:00 p.m on the day in question that a man in the Crab Hill area appeared to be dead. 

     

    On arrival, ranks met Leader’s motionless body lying on the ground with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

     

    Preliminary investigations revealed that after parking and exiting his motor vehicle, Leader was accosted by an armed assailant who shot at him.
     
    In an attempt to escape, he started running but his assailant gave chase and continued firing at him, which caused him to fall and succumb to his injuries.
     
    Personnel from the Forensic Department processed the scene and collected items of evidential value.
     
    Investigations are ongoing and the police are urging persons who might have information regarding this matter to contact the Violent Crimes Unit by dialling 467-1887, 467-1888, 662-3468, the nearest police station or the Crime Hotline at 707, where that information could be given anonymously.
