BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 30TH 2009 (CUOPM) – General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), Mr. Errol Douglas is the new Caribbean delegation chairman of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA).
The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) appointed a new slate of officers for the 2009-2010 year on Thursday at its 98th Annual Convention in Galveston, Texas in the United States.
Chairman-elect is Managing Director of the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority, Mr. V. Victor O'Neal was named Chairman-elect.
Port Director of the Massachusetts Port Authority, Mr. Michael A. Leone, was formally installed as the Chairman of the AAPA board. He takes over the post from Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles, Geraldine Knatz, who chaired the board in 2008-2009. In addition to his role as AAPA board chairman, Leone will serve as chairman of U.S. delegation for 2009-2010.
Representing AAPA's Canadian delegation, Halifax Port Authority President and Chief Executive Officer Karen Oldfield will take over as the delegation’s Chairman for the 2009-2010 year, while, President and Chief Executive Officer of the St. John's Port Authority, Newfoundland, Sean Hanrahan , was named chairman-elect.
For AAPA's Latin American delegation, Managing Director of the Curaçao Ports Authority in Willemstad, Curaçao, Agustin Diaz, will assume the role of delegation chairman, while President of the Bahía Blanca Port Authority in Argentina, Dr. Jorge Otharan, was named the delegation's 2009-2010 chairman-elect.
The delegation's new vice chairman is sub-director of Ancillary Maritime Industries, Maritime Authority of Panama, Licda. Gicela de Kinkead.
