CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry, recently signed the lease and development agreement with developers Namdar Brothers Ltd. giving them the green light to begin work on the Charlestown Redevelopment Plan. The Plan entails a new appearance for the waterfront area west of the Iron Shed, and begins with the removal of government offices and other businesses as well as the demolition of the Customs Building, among others. Weekend Vibes asked the people of Charlestown their impression of the Plan.
Atty Jones - It’s a good move. Nothing is wrong in doing such redevelopment. It’s investment. My problem is how much revenue will Nevis benefit from such a project.
Sam Taxi Service Cinderella - Well it’s number one. It is something everybody in the country should benefit from.
Speedy - It is good and it is a beautiful project. People like me will get work to do.
Santoy Barret – (3029) - Great idea; a project long overdue!
James David - It is a very good idea. I think the government should have consulted with the people openly by keeping meetings before making such decisions. Talk first then do what is necessary. I am also happy that the development is in process for our dear beloved country of Nevis. That’s all I can say at this moment. I am happy, happy, happy.
Angelle - More money for the country! Better tourist attraction! It is a good idea and the country will benefit.
