BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – BASSETERRE HIGH SCHOOL (BHS) is now ready to compete in the Talented Teen Pageant this December and will try to repeat last year’s performance following Friday night’s (Oct. 30) crowning of its new queen.

With just four points ahead of her closest competitor, 13-year-old Miss Excellence Cinnamon Matthew was adjudged winner of the show with a total of 425 points, capturing the Best Introductory Speech and Best Interview in the process.

Miss Honesty Raedawn Thomas was the First Runner-up and took the Best Talent award while Miss Courtesy Kyanna Penny took the Second Runner-up position and also the Best Creative Wear, Best Formal Wear and Miss Amity awards. The pageant was held at Carnival Village and was hosted by Juliana Byron and Geoffery Hanley while the two emcees for the night were Kyss FM’s Kupid and DJ Rucus.

The other contestants were Roshanni Hazel who won the Miss Photogenic award and Yulaiki Santigao. All the contestants gave impressive performances in most of the segments.

However, they were all very weak in the interview segment as they fumbled to provide intelligent answers to their respective questions. Meanwhile, a Junior Calypso Show was held with three contestants from the school and first-timer Amanda Payne, known as Major Payne, won the crown. She was followed by Lanika Crawford, a.k.a. Dynamite Girl, and Trevis Belle, a.k.a., Might T.

The winners of both competitions will represent the school at the Talented Teen and Junior Calypso Show slated for December as one of the activities for National Carnival.

The house band for the night was reigning Road March Champs, the Grand Masters Band. A number of home-grown artistes provided entertainment for the large turnout at the show, including Infamus, Lex & Co., DC, C-money, Pepperranks, BHS Dancers and the St. Kitts Youth Corps.
