High Surf Advisory for St. Kitts and Nevis 25th March, 2022

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) wishes to advice the general public of a High Surf Advisory for St. Kitts and Nevis.

This advisory will remain in effect for today Friday 25th March and tomorrow Saturday 26th March.

Senior Meteorologist at the St. Kitts Met Office, Mr. Elmo Burke has advised the agency that the Federation will likely experience potential waves reaching up to ten feet mostly on the northern and eastern side of the island. These swells are expected to cause life-threatening surfs and rip currents for affected coastlines.

Hazardous conditions are likely to affect sea bathers and marine time operations.

All are asked to exercise extreme caution when using the northern and eastern coastal waters.

A high surf advisory means that dangerous surfs of two to three meters or 6 to 10 feet will affect some coastlines in the advisory area, producing hazardous conditions.

Please continue to monitor these hazardous, life-threatening marine conditions and stay tuned to updates coming out of the Meteorological Office
