Macmillan Education Caribbean to run three days of enquiry-based learning webinars for April

    March 28th, 2022 -- At the beginning of April, Macmillan Education Caribbean will run three days of enquiry-based learning webinars, hosted by educational expert and author, Debbie Roberts. Over the three days, Roberts will use her expertise to explain to teachers and educators how to deliver effective enquiry-based learning lessons to students. 

     

    Each day will cover a different topic, so attendees will come away with a variety of engaging lessons to bring back to the classroom, namely on the topics The Environment, Light and Sound Energy, and Properties and uses of materials. 

     

    She will be sharing practical tips, with time for questions and answers and a certificate for those who attend each session

     

    The engaging events begin on Tuesday 5 April at 2.00 pm (AST) with the topic The Environment – The environment and our effect on it, conserving the environment, how do environmental problems affect us? Soil degradation.

     

    It continues Wednesday 6 April at the same time - 2.00 pm (AST) – on the topic Light and Sound Energy – How does light behave? How does sound behave? Noise and noise pollution.

     

    On Thursday 7 April – also at 2.00 pm (AST) – the final session will be hosted on the topic Properties and uses of Materials – Properties and uses of common materials, reversible and irreversible changes, states of matter.

     

    Debbie Roberts is an experienced science educator, a well-known author, and teacher trainer at primary and secondary levels of science education with a specialism in STEAM methodology. 

     

    She said, “Questions are at the heart of enquiry-based learning.  We need our children to question the world around them to allow them to become future thinkers at a much deeper intellectual level.

     

    “Enquiry based learning promotes lifelong skills while learning the content needed to progress in education.”
