KINGSTON, Jamaica - AFTER a day and a half of disappointment, the Federation’s team competing at the 2022 CARIFTA Games in Kingston, Jamaica has something to smile about after taking a Bronze Medal in Boys Under-17 400m Hurdles.
Despite a slow start, Jermahd Huggins fought ‘tooth and nail’ to clock a time of 55.67s to walk away with a Bronze Medal.
He was beaten by Jamaica teammates Princewell Martin and Jordan Mowatt, both of whom were a class above the rest of the field.
Martin upset the world’s top hurdler, Mowatt, with a time of 53:00s to his compatriot’s 54.40s.
The Federation’s Akanye Francis finished fifth with a time of 56.24s.
The Games will wrap up tomorrow (Apr. 18) here in Kingston. However, the Federation’s athletes will continue hunting for more medals later this evening.
